Basic information

The cold hopping device Hops Master 500 is used for the maceration of the hop aroma and oils into the cold beer without contact with air, in order to enhance the aroma and taste of beer. By using this device, beer can reach a rich scale with a unique, original, rich aroma and taste, finally original character.

Hops Master HR 500

  • Two sight glasses – DN 100 – vertically welded on the body of hopper – the operator can monitor the movement of hops inside the equipment
  • The diameter of Hops Master 500mm - 1000mm height (bottom and top part dished bottom), in the top part there will be clamp DN 300 manhole.
  • Filter diameter - 250mm, 0.5mm - 1000mm height - seated in the O-ring at the bottom and clamp cap as it is designed for Hops Master 300
  • Inlet/outlet of beer DIN, SMS or clamp and two outlets for discharging of hops impurities - connection port base
  • Butterfly valve DN 15 with fitting for evacuation with CO2
  • The Whole technology will be mounted on the frame with stainless steel casters and direct brakes
  • Pump EBARA operated by frequency inverter
  • Check valves - sanitary item.
  • All necessary fittings and items included.
  • The second filter – 0,2mm

 Optionally

  • Frequency inverter for the smooth operation of the EBARA pump, with control potentiometer, mounted in the waterproof box
  • Additional filter for the Hops Master for filtration of the beer without residual yeasts 0.2mm
  • Seal of the pump for high temperatures up to 100°C

Features

  • Cold hopping device can be flexibly integrated in an existing system by using flexible hoses
  • It provides an efficient extraction of aromatic components, which provides constant and defined flavouring
  • Better results with less amount of hop, compared to convent methods of dry hopping
  • It can be also used for additional hopping of hot wort after boiling process – additional hop aromatization between whirlpool and wort cooler
  • Due to fine filtration screen 0.2mm. It ensures perfect separation of the extracted hop particles, there are no problems with filtration

Frequently Asked Questions

Question: How many kilograms of hops can be maximally used for one cycle of cold hopping?

Answer: The amount of hops depends on the diameter of the internal filter of the device, in general our company produces two types of HopsMaster, i.e. HM300 where the filter diameter is 100 and the filter length is 1000mm and HM500 where the filter diameter is 250mm and the filter height is 1000mm. The area of the filter is decisive for the maceration of the drink itself and determines how many kg of hop pellets can be used for one cycle of cold hopping. Generally, after dissolving the hop pellets in the HM body, a so-called filter bed is formed on the filter body, through which the drink passes and thus hop essences are extracted into the drink (beer). The user should therefore always choose such a quantity of hops that the pump is able to push the drink through the filtering surface of the filter (formed by the dissolved pellets) and some optimal flow rate is maintained. A common amount of pellets for one cycle is between 28-56g of hops per 19L of beer. If you want to achieve just a hint of hop aroma, you can use only 14 g of hop pellets. If you want your beer to have a distinct bitterness and hop aroma, we recommend using around 112 grams of hop pellets.

Question: How to sanitize HopsMaster

Answer: The entire HM device is designed to be completely disassembled, i.e. it can be completely disassembled and cleaned if necessary. After the end of the cold hopping process and depressurization of the container, residual beer that could no longer be squeezed back into the tank is released into the channel, then it is pulled out by internal filters (which can be washed with pressurized water) and then the entire HM body. After a thorough pre-washing, the entire HM is then assembled and connected to an external CIP unit and standard sanitation is carried out with 2% lye 65-70°C and weak peracetic acid max. 1%.

Question: Can the HM device be used to macerate a drink with, for example, herbs, oak flakes, spices or fresh fruit?

Answer: The HM device is widely used for the maceration of beverages, not only beer, for both cold maceration and/or maceration of warm beverages before cooling or bottling.

Question: Is the HM pump equipped with a frequency converter?

Answer: Yes, the HM pump is equipped with a frequency converter for continuous speed regulation, so that it is possible to control the flow through the HopsMaster filter

Q: What is the HM power supply?

Answer: The power supply is 230V AC, single phase

Question: Does the device need to be additionally mounted or adjusted before using it?

Answer: I deliver the HM to the customer completely assembled and ready for use, Plug&Play, no additional assembly is required, the customer will only use his own hoses (the hoses are not part of the device delivery).

Question: What type of connection does HM have?

Answer: Is it possible to supply HM with different types of connections according to DIN customer requirements? SMS and clamp, dimensions can also be adjusted on request...

Q: How is the device shipped?

Answer: The device is transported on a pallet, fully secured so that it is not damaged during transport
